What is Jagua?
Jagua is a natural fruit-based gel derived from the Genipa Americana tree, native to Central and South America. When applied to the skin, jagua creates a beautiful blue-black stain that resembles a temporary tattoo. Unlike henna, which typically stains brown, jagua develops into a deep blue-black color.
What Should I Expect?
Your design will appear very light immediately after application. Over the next 24–48 hours, the stain will gradually darken into its final blue-black color. Every person's skin is different, so stain color and longevity may vary.
How Long Does Jagua Last?
Most jagua designs last approximately 1–3 weeks, depending on skin type, placement, and aftercare. Areas that experience frequent washing, friction, or exfoliation may fade more quickly.
Aftercare Instructions
• Leave the jagua gel on the skin for at least 2–4 hours, or as long as instructed by your artist.
• Carefully wash away the dried gel with soap and water after the recommended development period.
• Avoid excessive rubbing or scrubbing of the design.
• Moisturize regularly to help extend the life of the stain.
• Swimming, hot tubs, exfoliation, and frequent hand washing may cause the design to fade more quickly.
• The stain will continue to darken over the first 24–48 hours after application.
Important Information
• Jagua is intended for external cosmetic use only.
• Do not apply jagua to irritated, damaged, or broken skin.
• Individuals with fruit allergies or sensitive skin should exercise caution and may wish to perform a small test patch before receiving a larger design.
• Results vary based on individual skin chemistry and placement of the design.
By receiving jagua body art, you acknowledge that stain color, longevity, and development may vary from person to person.
